Company Checks (Sub-list)
You may wish to check the status of company or director, either as a business or an individual. Whilst there is a fair amount of information available, it will often be out of date, or not paint the whole picture. Therefore, by all means, use various services, but research and understand their limitations/ Listed here are the main Companies House portal and one or more of potentially hundreds of other services, offering generic business information. Remember also there are a host of sector specific oversight bodies, such as the Financial Conduct Authority and the National Housebuilders’ Confederation, skills and trades registers, such as the Competent Persons Register, and over avenues including web searches and first-hand checks of references that might also be considered. At the end of the day however, all business involves a degree of risk. However, whilst serial fraudsters are very good at hiding their activities and appearing to be attractive business prospects, most people and business are broadly well meaning. In essence, if it looks to good to be true, it maybe is.
